MAP members recently attended this year’s annual meeting at the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) in November and delivered a free spatial analysis workshop, ‘Introduction to Spatial Analysis for Infectious Diseases. Participants received excellent hands-on training in R, QGIS and INLA delivered by members of our research team. Thank you to all attendees, the MAP team looks forward to delivering this training to more people in 2023.
Other highlights from ASTMH included our team head, Professor Peter Gething’s Alan Magill Symposium on Climate change and malaria elimination and, several poster presentations from our MAP researchers outlining some of the exciting research happening within the team. Poster presentations included, Mapping the malaria parasite prevalence in Ghana from 2011-2019 for risk stratification, Long-term forecasting of malaria commodities and development of novel policy tools, Closing the gaps – timing of malarial-fevers treatment in children under 5 years in Africa, Enumerating the changing burden for all-cause febrile illness in infants and young children in low- and middle-income countries, and The Public-private share of usage of effective antimalarials in children with fever.
