Paulina joined MAP in August 2020, guided by her interest in mathematical modelling applied to aid solving public health issues. She completed her Master of Arts in Mathematics and Physics at the University of Aberdeen, with a dissertation on Evolutionary Games and Prisoner's dilemma for bacterial infections. She recently submitted her PhD thesis for examination. Her PhD was conducted at Curtin University and the University of Aberdeen. Her research combined mathematical modelling, experimental and bioinformatics techniques to study the effects of environmental and genetic factors influencing biofilm formation of Campylobacter jejuni, which is one of the major causes of human gastroenteritis around the world.
