MAP Perth had an exciting visit from the leadership team at the Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) in April.

Established in 1956 and headquartered in Dar es Salaam, IHI is the home to our MAP Dar es Salaam node. A Tanzanian-led research organisation with a strong track record in developing and evaluating life-saving health innovations, and working closely with the Tanzanian Government and local communities, IHI leads research across national and global health priorities, including malaria and other emerging infectious diseases.

The special visit was hosted at the home of MAP Perth – The Kids Research Institute Australia (The Kids) – and provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge across teams at an institutional level, supporting capacity development while exploring new strategic partnerships across shared scientific priorities.

As part of the visit, IHI Chief Executive Director Honorati Masanja hosted a Research Seminar highlighting their work addressing emerging global health challenges, from climate-sensitive diseases and antimicrobial resistance to the growing burden of non-communicable diseases.

Alongside Professor Masanja, MAP Perth and The Kids welcomed IHI’s Head of Project Accounting Tabi Kibukila, Business Development & Partnerships Specialist Zawadi Mboma, Senior HR Manager Doris Rushekya, and Communications Officer Jane Moshi.
